The Braun T 1000 world receiver, introduced in 1964 under the direction of Dieter Rams, remains one of the most iconic and technically ambitious radios of its time. With its clean aluminum housing, modular layout, and intuitive drum dial for switching between short, medium, and long wave bands, it reflects a design philosophy rooted in clarity and precision. Equipped with 12 overlapping AM frequency bands, including 8 shortwave, and advanced features such as manual gain control, BFO, and selectable bandwidth, the T 1000 continues to impress even by today’s standards. This example is fully functional and in very good condition, with minor wear visible on the brushed aluminum front. Operates on 6 batteries (not included); original manual not included. A benchmark of mid-century German engineering—form, function, and fidelity in perfect alignment.

Technical details: The T 1000 features 12 overlapping AM frequency bands (0.13–30 MHz), including 8 shortwave, alongside FM reception (87–108 MHz). It houses 3 tuned RF circuits, 7 intermediate frequency stages (IF: 455 kHz), a switchable bandwidth (+/0.9/+3.5 kHz), manual gain control, BFO, AF filter, and electronic bandspread—executed with gold-plated contacts and a battery-operated band selector. The official retail price in 1964 has been: 1,400.00 DM
